The Chowne Street House by Philip Leeson Architects was the fortunate recipient of The Gene Willsford Award for Residential Architecture – Houses (Alterations and Additions) on Saturday evening at the 2018 ACT Australian Institute of Architecture awards. The project was also generously awarded The Pamille Berg Award for Art in Architecture, for the artwork by artist Ham Darroch on the rear block work wall. The artwork captures the spirit of the era in which the original house had been constructed, as well as reflecting the contemporary layer of work by Philip Leeson Architects.
PLA are very proud of these awards, and the whole team turned out to enjoy the evenings festivities at the National Art Gallery. Philip, being the ACT AIA Chapter President this year, also featured highly in the evening and his impromptu, lighthearted repartee seemed to be very well received by the crowd!
